Who doesn’t love reading? But for a lot of us students who want to be avid readers, the price tag that comes with each book can get a little difficult for our mostly empty pockets.

Therefore, we have no shame in our game in admitting that we are always on the constant lookout for websites that let you download books for free.

Now, I’m not going to lie, many a times if the book isn’t mainstream or famous, or belongs to a series, the chances of you finding it online for free is a little bleak.

For example, if you are looking for something by a Japanese author, then the chances of you finding the book is fairly less, but if you were to look for something by an American or an Indian author, you would definitely hit something good.

For me, if I’m looking for a free eBook I would just type in the relevant keywords on Google and hunt through the links until I find the right one. So, to make it easier for you, here in this post I have some websites that are known for providing free eBooks.

A spot where you get free books, I like the name to be honest. Free book spot is an eBook library site which provides you with the links to eBook downloads, and they have a vast category of genres to select from.

You can look for and download free books in genres like science, programming, engineering, fiction and many other books.

No registration is needed to download free e-books.

Google e-Bookstore

The Google play store, from where you download your apps in your Android phone, has a section from where you can get free and paid books as well.

In the free section of the Google e-Bookstore, you will find a heap of books from a selection of categories. You will find here books from the bestseller list, favourite classics and more.

Books are offered in several formats, and you can also check out ratings and reviews from other users.

One a little note of caution though, the books that I saw on the free list on this site aren’t exactly my cup of tea when it comes to books. A lot of them are about history and children and very casual stuff.

So, if you come to this site thinking that you’d get the specific book that you are looking for, chances are that you may not.

Project Gutenberg

With an assortment of more than 56,000 free e-books, Project Gutenberg is a volunteer endeavour to generate and share e-books online.

You will find a lot of old literature here, especially books for which the copyright has expired and therefore they are now legally allowed to be offered for free in the public domain.

No registration or fee is required, and books are offered in ePub, Kindle, HTML and simple text formats.

Also, if you like and want to support their work of digitizing books for the public, then you can also make a contribution on their site.

When we think about eBooks, we always think about books that people read during their free time. But what about study books? Are we forgetting that even those are expensive and students who don’t have any income of their own can’t really afford them, but need them regardless in order to pass their exam?

Searching for a particular educational textbook or business book has been made easier by the site BookBoon.

The site offers more than 1,000 e-books, it’s easy to find your way around the site and best of all you don’t have to register to download them.

These are some of the websites from where you can get free ebooks.

Now obviously, the chances of you getting every book out there is not possible when you are trying to get it for free. I mean, Amazon’s ability to offer you the book for a price will be much higher than a free ebook site’s. However, sometimes you do end up getting the book that you truly wanted from these sites and the fact that it is for free is just an added bonus. So happy hunting and we hope these websites help you get the books that you are looking for.
