India, the country with rich cultural heritage has many festivals celebrated throughout the year. But among this Raksha Bandhan stays special because it is the occasion to celebrate the endless love bond between siblings.  Sisters tie a rakhi around their brother’s wrist as a symbol of wishing him long life and happiness and in exchange, the brother promises to protect his sister from all evils. Sisters are the luckiest ones in Raksha Bandhan celebration since they are the ones who receive so many gifts from their brothers.

Let’s not burden our brothers this year, instead why not we surprise them with something. There are some sisters, who buy gifts for their brothers. But when it comes to buying gifts, be it your brother, father, husband or friend, buying gifts for a guy is a difficult task. Moreover, most of us end up buying a watch or any other electronic gadgets.

So, here are some unique ways to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with your brother.

Cook for Him

Not only your brother, every guy appreciates this step. Remember the old saying ‘The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’. But make sure that you are not a terrible cook, you might end up upsetting his stomach. If your cooking skills are great, try some of his favorite dishes.

Buy Him a Play Station

Most guys, irrespective of the age loves video games. So why not buy him something that is a dream of every video game freak, a play station. Get the best sister award this Raksha Bandhan by gifting him a PlayStation. This one is slightly expensive, but if you can’t afford a play station, buy him the CD of his favorite game’s latest version.

Give Him Money

If the brother is younger and not working, then the great gift he would appreciate will be money. He might have spent his pocket money to buy you gifts for Raksha Bandhan, so what could be better than returning him the money as a gift. Any form of money will be accepted; instead of giving him money directly, you could try something different such as refueling his bike or getting him tickets to his favorite movie or show.

A Salon Treatment

Most guys never admit their interest to look good and all those beauty salons seem like a nightmare to them. You could either take him to a salon without letting him know that it is for him or buy a home spa kit for him. Not like girls, guys don’t have the interest in talking about or finding the best beauty products. You could do a little research and come up with some good products for him.

A Girl’s Advice

If your brother doesn’t have much girl besties, it is your responsibility to advise him in girl related matters. He might never ask for it, but you know he needs it and he knows he needs it. Give him some dating advice or if you are friends with his secret crush, help him get close to her. Get her phone number or arrange an ‘accidental’ meet up, which could probably end up in an official date.

Take a Step Closer to His Dreams

This one will be most impactful and for this, you need to know about your brother’s dreams. Every person has that one dream they have sacrificed or left aside for other reasons. Like if your brother wants to be a writer, publish any of his works and give him the best surprise of his life.

Memory Box

This one sounds like cliché, but it is effective.  Create a memory box full of special things that belonged to him or that have a special meaning you both (photos, pieces of clothing, cards, toys etc.). You could remind your childhood memories with all these scraps. Spend the whole day re-living your old days.

Brother and sister carry a really special bond. Most brothers might don’t show that but they love their love of their sisters is endless. So, this Raksha Bandhan, let all the sisters take a step to thank their brothers and make them feel special as they always do for us.
