The Face Shop Lovely Meex Mini Pet Hand Cream In 03 White Floral Review
October 10, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com
In this post, I am reviewing the Face Shop Lovely Meex hand cream, which spoiler alert, are the cutes hand creams you will ever come across.
Like Ned Stark kept saying on Game of Thrones, “winter is coming”. And with it comes dry skin that just cries out for some hydration and moisture. For me, winter means dry hands that make me want to cover them up with gloves at all times and feature a Victorian era fashion statement.
In the past, I used to use Boroline and body moisturisers in order to keep my hands at least presentable, but recently I thought why not give some proper hand creams a try instead.
Now, Boroline will forever be my go-to for any kind of skin issue and I think I will always be a bit prejudiced towards it, but I think I ought to try out some alternatives, and since the beauty scene in India is probably at its best if we take the last 10 or 20 years into account, with companies launching new products every month and international websites delivering their products to us here, this is as good a time as ever.
Price
This product is sold for INR 430, but you can get it at a discounted price of INR 301 online, and you get 30 ml of product.
Packaging
It comes in probably the cutest container ever for a hand cream. It looks like a bear peeking out from a flower pot. I will say this though, the amount of product available is actually quite less taking into consideration the price.
What It Claims to Do
An adorable hand cream, this beauty goodie by Face Shop promises supple and pretty hands. It provides high moisture, zero stickiness and excellent absorbance.
Varieties Available
It is available here in 3 varieties and in the Face Shop website there is one more.
01 BABY POWDER – Baby powder fragrance
02 SWEET FRUITS – Sweet mango and peach fragrances
03 WHITE FLORAL – Harmony of jasmine and white musk and white floral fragrance
04 FRUITY FLORAL – Refreshing green peach, plum, cherry, and other fruity floral fragrances
How It Performed and My Thoughts
I purchased this cream in the white floral variety, because I’m not a huge fan of sickly sweet fragrances of fruit and if I wanted to smell like baby powder, I would’ve opted for something from Johnson and Johnson’s baby range. Also because I liked the colour of this one’s container; the dark glossy maroon with the creamy bear was too cute for me to not buy.
The smell of this particular cream isn’t too overpowering, but it does have a very pleasant smell to it that lingers for a long time on your hands.
The consistency of the cream is actually a bit on the lighter side, making it something that won’t exactly be the kind of heavy duty hand cream that we look for during winters, but will make do if your dry hand condition isn’t too severe. Due to its light consistency, it doesn’t feel sticky on the hands and neither does it leave behind a residue of any sort, which some thick hand creams tend to do, which is usually followed by sweaty palms.
Coming to what I thought of this product as a hand cream, I wouldn’t really recommend it, especially for those who live in areas where it gets really cold which in turn effects the softness of our hands leaving them feel like scales.
This cream is too light for the job and will fail you. Furthermore, given the price, you would expect more, but sadly there isn’t anything to look forward to than just the cute packaging.
I will suggest that you save your money and buy something like Boroline or Boroplus which actually gets the job done.
However, if you live in a place where winter doesn’t mean an icy vortex but rather something pleasant and cool, you could use this product if you too have fallen in love with its packaging.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Cute packaging
- Smells very nice
- Doesn’t leave a sticky feeling afterwards
Cons
- Won’t work on really dry hands
- Consistency is too light
- Overpriced
Rating
I think I can only go so far and rate this product a 2 out of 5.
I wasn’t really impressed with it because it turned out to be a very light hand cream that won’t work very well on really dry hands, and is something that you should probably stick to during summers.
Also, it is a huge waste of money as well, seeing that there are other options available in the market that aren’t strictly sold as hand creams but which do the job right and at a fraction of the price. So, save your money, and get one of those products for your winter needs.
