A nude beach is a beach where people who get access there are legally at liberty to sunbathe nude. There is no prior subscription or membership needed to go to a nude beach, where you find all users are bare naked. These beaches may be sanctioned by the Government of the respective nation to be so, unofficial in nature being tolerated by the authorities or illegal, but they do exist.
It is different from a topless beach as in the users have no clothing covering their genitals. Some nudist beaches may have a “nudity optional but not mandatory” nature where users may have clothes on if they wish but will be in the close vicinity of the nudists. Tossing clothes aside does not mean that their manners are tossed aside as well.
Every nude beach has its own set of rules and regulations, which if broken can lead to a fine or even an arrest. After a while, seeing everyone nude on a beach makes you get used to it so the awkwardness reduces or vanishes, just maintain etiquette. Don’t close your eyes shut when you see a fellow nude naturist walk by- you’re bound to make them uncomfortable. Keep distances between your chairs from others so that their much needed personal space is respected. Behave just the same way that you would have had you worn a bathing suit at a regular beach.
Now, where would you find such beaches? These are generally kept away from the regular beaches or their areas are marked specifically mentioning the nature of the beach.
Red Beach, Crete, Greece
The rusty red color of the rocky sandstone cliffs gives the beach its name. It has pristine cobalt blue waters and untouched caves that add to its rustic charm. The attraction about this beach is that it has full tolerance for nudity at the beach allowing you to be at your naturist best!
Spiaggia di Guvano, Corniglia, Italy
Feeling adventurous? Reach this isolated small beach through a dark tunnel in the mountainous Cinque Terre region. You’ll see a lot of locals around though!
Bellevue Beach, Klampenborg, Denmark
This beach has a half in half system- one half is populated by strictly topless revelers and the other is welcomed by bare nude naturists. It is visited by the young local crowd that loves an adventure at the beach!
Wreck Beach, Vancouver, Canada
Nominated as being one of the “Seven Wonders of Canada”, the Wreak beach is one of the oldest and largest clothing optional beaches in the country. Owing to the lack of road access, this beach is not too packed but has a major influx of various vendors who follow the clothing optional norm too!
Es Trenc, Mallorca, Spain
In the summers, these white sandy shores are less choked in the center where nudity is the norm than the rest of the beach. It can be relatively more enjoyable as there are no vehicles allowed on the beach ensuring better privacy.
