India’s Top 5, Best Sun Screen Creams to Protect You This Summer

What’s not to love about spring? The air outside is no longer harsh, the flowers are blooming again, and the best part; the sun is finally coming out and you can start shedding your double layered outfits and wear some three-quarter sleeves. However, while we are all enjoying the blissful scenery and warmth, most of us tend to forget that as March moves forward and dumps us into April, it also leaves a goodbye present in the form of excessive heat and scorching sun rays. So what do we do in such a situation? Well it is quite simple; we load up on our SPF.
The main reason why we should wear sunscreen is not because it will stop us from tanning, but because it protects our skin from the harmful Ultra Violet Rays of the sun, which can cause skin cancer.
In today’s post I’ll be sharing with you the top 5 sunscreen lotions that will protect you from the UV rays of the sun and at the same time, not melt way the moment you start to sweat.
Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Lotion With SPF 50+
Let us begin with one of my favourites in the lot. The Biotique sunscreen lotion is an incredibly light, but highly effective sunscreen lotion. Price: It retails at INR 150 for 50 grams of products which is pretty reasonable. It comes in a tube with a flip cap, and can be easily carried around with you in your handbag or backpack so that you have sun protection all time of the day.
The consistency of this product is a little bit runny so be careful when you try to take the product out of the tube, because it always seems to just flow out even without you having to squeezing the tube.
What I love about this product is that it is light on the skin. It is very easy to apply, it blends in like a dream and instantaneously gets absorbed by your skin. It doesn’t make your skin feel greasy or anything like that, rather it gives just the right amount of hydration. If you are someone who wears makeup and are looking for a sunscreen that you could apply underneath your foundation or primer, then this is it.
VLCC Hydrophobic Sun Block Lotion With SPF 50
If you are looking for a thick sunscreen that can also work as a moisturizer, then look no further. Price: This product retails at INR 350 for 100 grams, which I will agree is a little up there. It comes in a plastic tube which has a matte finish to it, with a flip cap.
This sunscreen by VLCC has a high SPF content and is extremely thick in consistency to the point that it does get a little difficult to blend in your face. I tend to use this sunscreen on my arms and any other exposed body part other than my face, mainly because I find it really difficult to blend it there. It does have a tendency to leave a white cast on your face, almost like something a fairness cream will do. So if you are someone who is into that, then you can definitely use this product on your face as well.
Other than that con, I feel like this is an amazing product which will protect you from the harmful rays of the sun. If you tend to spend a lot of time outdoors, then you should definitely give this sunscreen a try, because not only will it provide you sun protection, but it also has moisturizing qualities and it will not budge even if you get sweaty. I may not go as far swimming with this product on and hope for sun protection, but other than this sunscreen will stay put and do its job.
BIODerma Photoderm With SPF 50
This product falls on the high end side of the skin care spectrum with a retail price of INR 1485 for 30 ml. It is packed in a tube with a screw on cap, and because of its small size, it is travel friendly and easy to carry around with you in your day.
The consistency of this product is semi-thick but regardless, it is easy to apply. If you read the details of this product, it claims to reduce pigmentation and any kind of blemish on your skin, so when I purchased this item I was a bit skeptical about this claim and in all honestly didn’t expect anything of that sort to happen. But within a few months of regular use, I was proven wrong by this product. It reduced the blemishes on my skin and gave it an even complexion.
I was very happy with how this product performed, but I must add that it is a little greasy and after applying, it feels like there is an extra layer on your skin. So if you are someone with oily skin then you may not enjoy this product as much. You could however, use this product on your spots and for the rest of your face use a lighter sunscreen, but seeing the price tag, that seems a little ridiculous.
Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Intensive Sunblock Spray With SPF 50
Price: This product retails for INR 345 for 80 ml, and comes in a bottle with a spray nozzle from which you can either directly spray the product onto your face or take some in your hands and then apply it onto your face. The product however claims that it has a mist-like consistency, something your makeup setting sprays would have, but I don’t think it is as fine as the latter. It is however, extremely light weight and a little runny, which is perfect because that way it can easily get absorbed into your skin. So even if you have oily skin you can use this product. It doesn’t leave an extra layer kind of feel to you face, so it can be worn underneath your makeup as well.
This sunscreen is perfect for your face, but you can also use it on your hands and any other exposed body part. It has SPF of 50 which is more than enough to protect you from the sun, and what’s more is that it doesn’t wipe off if you sweat too much, which is always a good thing in my book.
The packaging of the product however makes it a little heavy so I wouldn’t really recommend carrying it around in your bag, unless you don’t mind the extra weight.
La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50 Sunscreen
Price: This product is priced at INR 1500 for 30 ml, and falls under the high end category of sun protection creams. It comes in a sleek, sturdy tube with a flip cap that shuts down tightly, making sure there is no spillage and that it is easy to carry round in your bag.
It has a creamy texture, which blends in evenly onto your skin, and although at first it leaves a shiny finish, it does eventually sink into your skin, giving it a skin-like finish. I liked this product mainly because a little goes a long way, it applies evenly onto your skin and doesn’t make it feel oily, and it is also water resistant. I’m one of those people who sweat a lot when in a hot and humid surrounding, and I was happy to see that this product did not budge even through all that. I can understand why this brand has such a cult following.
So that was my list of the top 5 sunscreen lotions. There were some from the low price range and then some from the high price range, but regardless they are all incredible products that will protect your skin from the sun.
