Dove Cream Beauty Bathing Bar Product Review, Know Price, Ingredients & More

March 11, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com

Dove is a personal care company that is owned by the Unilever group and was introduced in the United Kingdom for the first time, 62 years ago. Ever since then, this little birdie has spread its wings all over the world and its products are manufactured and sold in almost all the countries of the world.

When Dove came to India, it started by selling its cream beauty bar, which is its signature white colored soap bar. At that time, it was considered as one of the costlier soaps, purchased only by the somewhat well to do and had a reputation of stinging really badly if it went into your eyes.

It has been decades now, and Dove has expanded its market in India from soaps, to include every other kind of toiletries. But in today’s post we are going to stick to the basics and do a review of the original Dove bathing bar which now goes by the name of Dove cream beauty bathing bar.

Price and Packaging

75 grams of soap bar retails at INR 48, and the soap itself comes in a white and dark blue box, with the Dove logo on it. It has quite a posh packaging compared to other soap bars that are sold in India which come in a glossy paper wrapper.

What it Claims

The product claims “to not be soap but a beauty bar. With one quarter moisturizing cream, this beauty bar cares for your skin leaving it soft and smooth.”

How it Performed

Dove Cream Beauty Bathing Bar – Product Review

I am going to be direct with this; I love this soap, and I will agree to an extent that it is not soap but a beauty bar. My first impression on this soap was that it is smooth but still has a texture to it, something like a matte finish surface would have. And my second impression was how good it smelled.

My only qualm when it comes to soaps is that they leave your skin feeling really dry and itchy, and if you have dry skin or the weather outside is cold, this quality of your soap will be your worst enemy. What I noticed about the Dove soap on my very first use was that it did not dry out my skin. In fact, whilst I was taking it off, it felt as if there was soap residue left on my body. What I first thought was “is this not coming off?” but then later on I learnt that that slimy feeling was the moisturising effect of the soap. What’s more is that not only did my skin feel nice and hydrated after I came out of the shower, but I could have gone about my day without even using any body lotion.

What I also liked about this soap was that you could use it to wash your face as well, and it won’t dry it out excessively. It has the right amount of soap qualities to take off any makeup residue, dust and oil particles, and the right amount of moisturizing effect to keep your skin feeling nice and smooth and not stretchy or too dry. But I will warn you, do not get it in your eyes because that reputation of it is still true all these years later.

Coming to the affordability of this soap, it lasted for a little over two months. It is a fat bar of soap and for the 48 rupees price tag it did an amazing job at staying true to its claims and lasting for a long time.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

These are the pros of this soap:

  • Affordable price
  • Has a pleasant smell
  • Lasts for a long time in terms of a soap
  • Makes your skin feel soft and supple
  • Can be used as a face wash

Cons:

There aren’t any, but if I must point one out, I’ll say its stinging effect if it gets inside the eye. But that is there in every other product that you use externally, so I’ll cut it some slack.

Rating

In conclusion, the Dove bar is an amazing soap and I will definitely recommend you to use it. It makes your skin feel soft and supple, and doesn’t have any of the drying effects that other soap bars in the market have. It is because of its stellar performance; I’ll rate it a 5 out of 5.
