Patanjali Kesar (Saffron) Product Review, Price and Beauty Benefits
March 30, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com
Saffron or Kesar as it is called in its native land, is a spice that is derived from the Crocus sativus flower, is one of the most expensive spices that are found in this world. A saffron plant bears up to 4 flowers, and the stigmas of these flowers have three threads which are extracted and dried to make the spice. The reason why saffron is so expensive is because most of its processing is done by hand. Furthermore, this is a very strong spice, so a little goes a long way.
What a lot of people may or may not know is that saffron is used not only as a spice, but also as an ingredient in beauty and skin care products. In today’s post, I will be talking about and reviewing the Patanjali Kesar.
Price
This product is sold at INR ~300 for 1gm of product. Like I mentioned before, this is a hand processed spice, so the price is justified.
Packaging
It comes in a clear plastic square container which is tiny in size, since you only get 1 gram of product in it.
Patanjali Kesar’s Benefits
Consumption of kesar has many health benefits. Here are a few of them mentioned.
- Saffron is said to be full of anti-oxidants, which prevent diseases and keep the body healthy.
- It is good for people who are suffering from hair loss. Using a mixture of saffron, milk, and licorice on your scalp reduces hair loss and promotes new hair to grow.
- Mixing saffron with your regular face pack will help in getting a glowing skin. Make a mixture of two strands of saffron with some sandalwood powder and some milk, and apply this to your face once a week.
- Saffron is also helpful in getting your blood pressure under control and produce haemoglobin in the body.
How to Use Patanjali Kesar As a Beauty Product
What I like about kesar is its ability to suit all skins types and not cause any kind of side effects. Whether you have dry, normal, or oily skin, mixing a few strands of saffron into your regular beauty regime will show positive results. And like I had said before, a little goes a long way when it comes to this spice. So, don’t take a heap full of the product, just two or three strands will suffice.
If you are someone with dry skin, mix two strands of saffron with some raw aloe vera juice. Let it sit for half an hour and bleed all its goodness into the aloe vera juice. The colour of the juice will turn yellow or orange, depending on how long you keep it soaked, and then you can apply this on your face to get a nice glowing complexion.
For people with normal to combo skin, mix some Besan or gram flour, with some yogurt and a few strands of kesar. Let the mixture sit for a while so that the saffron can get mixed into it. Apply this on your face to remove blemishes, acne spots, remove sun tan, and get a nice glowing complexion.
And lastly, if you have oily skin, then mix two strands of saffron with a few teaspoons of buttermilk, and let it sit. If the mixture is too runny then you can add some fuller’s earth or multan mitti to it. Apply this mixture to your face once a week, and it will help in controlling the oiliness of your skin and also give you a radiant glow.

Here is a video that we found, in this video Baba Ramdev himself is explaining benefits of Patanjali Kesar and how it gets packaged.
In conclusion, kesar is kind of an all-round spice, used for food as well as beauty. It has so many health benefits and skin care benefits. You only need a little bit of it, maximum three strands, and you will get enough colour and goodness from it. It is most certainly a 5 out of 5 kind of a product.
