Price

It is priced at INR 85 for a net volume of 200 ml.

Bottle

The bottle is a white, opaque plastic one with a flip-up black lid. The lid fits back in place quite securely and is an ideal pack to carry while travelling. Though fairly simple, the packaging is quite effective- there is not much scope of leakage or spillage. This shampoo has a special ingredient that is also the active one- Reetha or Sapindus Trifoliatus (25 mg per 10 ml) which helps condition the hair and keeps it strong. It is also known to reduce hair fall.

Color and Consistency

This shampoo is black in color and is of a medium thickness and flowing consistency. When mixed with water too (for those who dilute their shampoo before use) this shampoo mixes well as one. It can be spread on the hair easily and has a fresh faint scent. The fragrance is a plus for people who want their hair smelling all natural. It has minute white active particles.

Use Instructions

The bottle guides you to using 2-5 ml shampoo on wet hair, lathering for a minute and rinsing it off.

It is a fairly mild cleansing shampoo for almost everyday use. There are no known side effects but some users have noticed dryness and require a conditioner to smoothen their hair ends after using this shampoo. This shampoo is not essentially a boon for dry hair as it tends to increase the dryness which also depends on the weather in the part of the country you stay in. Like in Mumbai, I find the same shampoo doing wonders to my hair (as I find my hair becoming oilier there) while in Pune it seems to dry out my hair a lot more.

What amazes me though is the feel of my hair after using this Ayurvedic shampoo – it is softer, shinier, and manageable. It doesn’t leave any residue or build-up behind, which is a big advantage. Since it is all Ayurvedic, the chances of general public developing an allergy or reaction to the shampoo or its ingredients is almost nil. All in all, this shampoo is a reasonably priced Ayurvedic hair care product that has a lot of merit about it. The only cons about this is the dryness it causes especially in drier climates, and the fact that you will have to invest in a conditioner for use after.

  1. After using patanjali reetha for some reason my hair fall has increased drastically. don’t know why it happened to me. I have oily hair.
At first it seemed okay but after three weeks my hair fall increased. I don’t why is that.i definitely don’t recommend this shampoo.

  2. I just love this shampoo…although I have dry and frizzy hair but I wont stop using it as it is still better than all those chemical filled shampoos. It also helped curing my dandruff.

  3. I always has a doubt on the herbal products as I am not aware if there is any regulation defining that how much herbal content a product should have to be called herbal.
So if a product is 95% chemical base & 5% herbal extract the manufacturer may call it ayurvedic/herbal etc.
We all accessing the internet are educated and shall not go by the labels, advertisements or marketing strategies.
Go through the ingredients & overall composition of the product. Calculate how much percent is herbal. You will find that most of the manufacturer claiming their product herbal have natural extracts less than 10% weight /volume of the pack specially in case of personal care products.
See what suits your body and skin ( every individual is different) and go ahead & don’t get carried away by herbal etc.

if you are ayurveda/herbal/ natural product savvy, then you have do some homework. I personally add a tea spoon of Meera ( Dry herbal hair cleansing powder available in market) + a tea spoon of powdered shikakai ( easily available in market) in a 1 glass of water and boil for few minutes. once cooled down ( around after 10- 15 minutes) I take out the supernatant in the a ceramic cup/ plastic bottle. Then add few drops of any good shampoo to this herbal cleanser. My own hair cleanser is ready with more than 90% herbal content.
Take a small amount out of it and use it alternate day or daily for hair cleansing. Rest left over store in fridge or keep in bathroom. This is mild , I know the contents and last for a week. So a 15 -20 minute task every weekend.
This keeps my hair soft and shiny.

  4. the worst shampoo ever … mujhe ganja kar dia … sirf do baar shampoo lagaya sir pe patch bna diye … 1 mahina ho gya baal bilkul bhi nhi aye.. contains lots of chemicals..dont buyy plZzzzz…. if u dont want to be bald
