Elle 18 Color Pops Lipstick Product Review, Rating & Price
August 17, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com
In today’s post I will be reviewing their lipstick range which is the Elle 18 Color Pops lipstick.
Elle 18 is one of those brands from our childhood which used to sell just nail polishes, but has now revamped itself to include other makeup items as well. Their entire range of products has a similar style of packaging, and they all come with an affordable price tag.
Price
These lipsticks are priced at INR 100, which is incredibly pocket friendly.
Packaging
They come in a cute, black, plastic lipstick case which kind of looks like a bullet. The name of the shade is printed on the bottom, and due to its tiny size, it is travel friendly as well. So, you can just drop them in your handbag and are good to go.
Shades Available
There are 15 shades available in this range, which is a good number seeing the price.
What They Claim to Do
The collection is vibrant and funky and just the right shades for your 7 days. Apply a blast of colour with nourishing indulgence with Elle 18 Color Pops Lip Color!
The cocoa butter and jojoba oil will give you soft, supple and luscious lips with an intense colour of your choice. Elle 18 Color Pops is smooth to apply and sit on your lips for a long time without worrying you about smudging or chipping.
How Lipsticks Performed and My Thoughts
These lipsticks have a very smooth, creamy texture, which makes it easy to apply and is also quite moisturising on the lips. All these lipsticks have a balmy core, which is what gives it that nourishing touch, so in other words you could say that this range is kind of like a tinted lip balm.
When you swatch them on your hand, they give a very decent colour payoff and seem to be quite pigmented as well, but sadly I can’t say the same happens when you apply it on your lips.
You definitely have to go with a few extra swipes if you want to get a good pigmented look from these lipsticks because with only one swipe it will look like you are just wearing a tinted lip balm. However, this where things get a little tricky because when you try to go and put a few extra layers of this product on your lips, due to the balmy texture the product only moves around and doesn’t really give you a pigmented finish.
Coming to its wear time, I would say this lipstick will last you for about 1 or 2 hours maximum. Also they are not transfer proof or resistant so even the tiniest bit of contact with another surface will take away the product from your lips.
They however do not bleed outside the lip line or settle in to the lines of your lips, so till the time the product is on your lips, it will look really good.
This lipstick also has a bubble gum-like smell to it, which isn’t overpowering or anything, but if you do not prefer scents like that then I would stay away from it. However, I think it will be a wrong decision to not to buy a lipstick which is so affordable just because it has a bubble gum scent to it.
If you are just starting off with makeup, then I will definitely recommend this lipstick to you. It is light on the pocket, has a good selection of colours, and is also very hydrating on the lips.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Affordable price
- Cute packaging
- Good choice of colours
- Hydrating on the lips
Cons:
- Not pigmented enough
- Applying extra coats only moves the product around
- Not transfer proof or resistant
- Stays put only for an hour or two
Rating
I will rate this product a 4 out of 5. Even though it has quite a few cons, I think for the price this lipstick is doing a pretty decent job and is a good option for anyone who has just started wearing makeup.
