Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Cream to Lighten, Brighten and Whiten Your Skin – Product Review

March 10, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com

Lotus Herbals is an Indian cosmetic company that makes makeup and skincare products by using natural ingredients. Their company’s motto is to combine traditional knowledge with 21st century technology to produce products that cater to all skin types and all kinds of cosmetic issues.

In today’s post, I will be reviewing one of their skincare items and that is the Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow cream.

Price

The product is priced at INR 345 for 60 grams.

Packaging

It comes in a white colored glass like jar with a screw on lid. It does have an appeasing look to it, although I always prefer having my skincare products in a tube or in a container with a pump because that way it is hygienic to use. Also, due to its bulky glass packaging, it isn’t very travel friendly. So I wouldn’t recommend that you carry it around in your handbag.

Ingredients and what it claims?

The core ingredients of this product are grape extract, mulberry extract, milk enzymes, and saxifrage extracts.

It claims to lighten the skin tone by reducing uneven pigmentation, whitens the skin by reducing dark spots and revealing fairer looking skin, and brightens the skin from the inside.

Color, Consistency, and How it Performed?

The cream is white in color, has a pleasant smell to it, and its consistency is a combination of a gel and a crème, giving it a non-sticky texture. It feels very light on the skin upon application and what I liked about this product is that it got absorbed very quickly into the skin, and make it feel nice and hydrated. The cream also has an SPF of 25 in it, so I will give it bonus points for that. Due to the SPF you can wear it during the day as a moisturizer and sunscreen underneath your makeup, and since it is a light weight cream that easily gets absorbed into the skin, it won’t cause any trouble while blending your foundation on top.

I particularly enjoyed the non-oily texture of this cream because it became a staple for me during the warmer seasons, when there was humidity in the air. I did have one fear though, that since the product claims to lighten the skin it will probably leave a white cast on my face just like any fairness cream will do, but I was pleasantly surprised when that did not happen. The cream glided on smoothly, had an even finish to it, and did not feel heavy on the skin either.

Coming to all that it claims, I was happy with one thing. After a few weeks of use, I did start noticing a faint glow on my skin, and I also liked how the texture of my skin felt. As for the reduction in the dark spots, I was disappointed because nothing happened in that area; they remained as they were. As for the skin to lighten claim, I wasn’t too keen on that area mainly because I very much like my skin’s olive color, so I wasn’t disappointed when it didn’t do anything to lighten it either.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • A lightweight day cream
  • Gets easily absorbed into the skin
  • Has SPF 25
  • Gives your skin a subtle glow after a few weeks of use

Cons:

  • Bulky packaging, and the cap has a tendency to break
  • Since it comes in a jar, it is comparatively less hygienic to something that will come in a tube or with a pump
  • Doesn’t reduce dark spots or pigmentation on the skin
  • Doesn’t lighten the skin tone

Rating

I found the Lotus Herbals White glow cream to be a glorified moisturizer. It has all the qualities of a good moisturizer and therefore I feel like they should sell it like one and not focus so much on the gimmicky things like skin whitening and lightening. I’ll give it a 3 out of 5, mainly because it kept my skin hydrated, worked as a good base for my foundation, and gave it a subtle glow.
