Product Review – Patanjali Kesh Kanti Reetha Shampoo a Product for Hair Growth, Hair Fall Control

Baba Ramdev is a yoga guru who has been instrumental in propagating yoga throughout the world. He has recently started a line of Ayurvedic products that venture into the food, cosmetics and minor medicinal remedies. So far they have been doing well in the market, and the reviews in general about their Ayurvedic products has been positive. Let’s talk in detail about one of their beauty and hair care products namely the Patanjali Kesh Kanti Reetha Shampoo.

The Patanjali Kesh Kanti Reetha Shampoo is one of the Ayurvedic products that falls under the category of a mild, cleansing shampoo.

Price

It is priced at INR 85 for a net volume of 200 ml.

Bottle

The bottle is a white, opaque plastic one with a flip-up black lid. The lid fits back in place quite securely and is an ideal pack to carry while travelling. Though fairly simple, the packaging is quite effective- there is not much scope of leakage or spillage. This shampoo has a special ingredient that is also the active one- Reetha or Sapindus Trifoliatus (25 mg per 10 ml) which helps condition the hair and keeps it strong. It is also known to reduce hair fall.

Color and Consistency

This shampoo is black in color and is of a medium thickness and flowing consistency. When mixed with water too (for those who dilute their shampoo before use) this shampoo mixes well as one. It can be spread on the hair easily and has a fresh faint scent. The fragrance is a plus for people who want their hair smelling all natural. It has minute white active particles.

Use Instructions

The bottle guides you to using 2-5 ml shampoo on wet hair, lathering for a minute and rinsing it off.

It is a fairly mild cleansing shampoo for almost everyday use. There are no known side effects but some users have noticed dryness and require a conditioner to smoothen their hair ends after using this shampoo. This shampoo is not essentially a boon for dry hair as it tends to increase the dryness which also depends on the weather in the part of the country you stay in. Like in Mumbai, I find the same shampoo doing wonders to my hair (as I find my hair becoming oilier there) while in Pune it seems to dry out my hair a lot more.

What amazes me though is the feel of my hair after using this Ayurvedic shampoo – it is softer, shinier, and manageable. It doesn’t leave any residue or build-up behind, which is a big advantage. Since it is all Ayurvedic, the chances of general public developing an allergy or reaction to the shampoo or its ingredients is almost nil. All in all, this shampoo is a reasonably priced Ayurvedic hair care product that has a lot of merit about it. The only cons about this is the dryness it causes especially in drier climates, and the fact that you will have to invest in a conditioner for use after.
