Ponds White Beauty BB Cream Product Review – Know Price, Ingredients & More

March 9, 2017 | by ashish963@gmail.com

In today’s post, I will be reviewing the Ponds white beauty BB cream. A BB cream is a product that is used on the face as a base for your makeup. It stands for blemish balm, and in some places a beauty balm. What makes a BB cream stand out from normal foundation is that a BB cream has all the properties of a moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, and foundation. What’s more, is that you do not need to spend hours trying to blend in your BB cream, making this the perfect product for people who have just started off using makeup, or if you are trying to do your makeup in a hurry and don’t have a lot of time on your hands to spend on just blending in your foundation.

Price

This item is sold at INR 350 for 50 grams, which is a little steep in my opinion. It also comes in two more sizes.

Packaging

The product is packed in a gorgeous white colored tube with a silver screw on cap. Since the size of this product is only 50 grams, you can take it around with you in your bag and use it to touch up your makeup during the day if you want.

What it claims

The Ponds BB cream claims to give you a lighter and even toned skin, and reduce dark spots and give a lasting impact on the skin.

Ingredients

The main ingredients of this product are GenWhite formula, Vitamin B3 and E, that will help lighten your skin and reduce blemishes.

How it performed

Ponds White Beauty BB Cream - Product Review
Ponds White Beauty BB Cream – Product Review

The Ponds BB cream has a cream like consistency which is neither too thick nor too runny. It glides on very easily on the skin, just like any moisturizer would do, but far as it being a BB cream, I wouldn’t agree with that. In my book, a BB cream is something that is close to a foundation but not quite like. It provides the skin care requirements that a foundation wouldn’t be able to give you, but it also gives your skin a certain amount of coverage like a foundation. I feel like the Ponds BB cream is just a glorified moisturizer with a little bit of tint to it.

For anything to be a BB cream, it should at least have a few shade options, which this product lacks. It only comes in one shade, so if you are someone whose skin color is darker than that shade, you will look like you have a white cast on your face, which is not at all appealing.

Coming to the claims this product makes about hiding blemishes and giving you an even toned skin, I would highly disagree. This cream doesn’t have any coverage, to the extent that it can’t even cover up your dark circles. The only use this cream fulfills is as a moisturize, but I feel like you can get much better products and deals in the market for the same price as this one.

I bought this product thinking that it was a BB cream and that I could use it to get an even complexion for those days when I can’t be bothered to wear a full face of makeup, but boy was I disappointed. The tint in this cream was too light for my skin tone so it made me look like I had a white cast on my face, and within two hours of application, it looked like the product had moved around my face and gathered in the perimeter of my forehead, leaving the rest of my face uncovered.

I can only recommend this product to someone who has a fair and probably flawless complexion. For the rest of us olive skinned people, this product is a big NO.

Pros and Cons

I feel like this product has very few pros.

  • It has a good consistency which makes it easy to apply.
  • Has SPF 30 in it.

The cons on the other hand are a bit too many. Here are the cons of this product:

  • The price is not right for the quantity of product you are getting.
  • Doesn’t cover your blemishes or dark circles.
  • Makes your skin oily with an hour or so of application.
  • Did not see any results regarding its claims to make your skin brighter.

Rating

My score for this product will be a 2 out of 5. The reason behind this is quite obvious, it doesn’t stay true to what it claims and is not a true BB cream. I wouldn’t even call it a tinted moisturizer because it doesn’t have even an ounce of coverage capabilities. It is just a glorified moisturizer and Ponds is charging a hell of a lot money for it as well. There are much better BB creams available in the market right now that are priced reasonably, have multiple shade options, and also provide a decent amount of coverage, that makes your skin look good.
