Shiv Sena Dasara Melava – An Insight

Shiv Sena’s Dasara Melava is an event organized every year by the Shiv Sena on the eve of Dasara. It is a sort of get-together, where thousands of people from different regions of India gather at Shivaji Park (Dadar, Mumbai), popularly known as Shiv Tirth amongst Shiv Sainiks to hear to their favorite leader – Hinduhruday Samrat Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray. This event has a history of 40+ years and every year, all the Shiv Sainiks and the followers come with devotion to show their love and affection towards the political party- Shiv Sena, especially Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray.

It all started on19th June, 1966 when Balasaheb established the political party Shiv Sena with an intention of inculcating the pride of one’s state, self-esteem, and Shivaji Maharaj’s assertiveness into each and every Maharashtrian. The main aim of this party was the upliftment of the Marathi community. It was on 30th October, 1966 that Shiv Sena’s first public meeting was held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Around 5 lakh people participated in this meeting and it was this meet that established Balasaheb’s never-ending relationship with the massive assemblage of Marathi people. From that day on wards, every year this event is conducted on the eve of Dasara. Since then, all the followers, scholars, and journalists keenly await to hear the messages of Balasaheb. Through this event, he describes the party’s stance on different issues and put forth future agenda.

All the followers try their best to be a part of this event, as it gives them an opportunity to learn something valuable from Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray. Such is the impact of his charismatic appeal that people stand up from their places and get delighted by his voice and appearance. It is his loyalty and love towards Maharashtra that leaves his followers inspired at the end. There are many leaders who come and go, but it is Balasaheb who has contributed and still contributing for the benefit of society. In addition, this event also encourages the feeling of togetherness and to do something for the welfare of the Maharastrians. Even Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena was founded on 17th October, 2010 at Shiv Sena Dasara Melava by Aditya Thackeray, son of Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray and grandson of Shiv Sena Pramukh Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray.

This year too, Shiv Sena is going to conduct this event on the occasion of Dasara with the purpose of encouraging love and brotherhood. People are eagerly waiting for this event, mainly to get a glimpse of Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray and hear his invaluable speech. Thus with so much belief and affection amongst people, it won’t be wrong to say that this event will be fruitful this year too alike every year.
