The Face Shop Real Nature Green Tea Face Mask – Product Review
May 20, 2018 | by ashish963@gmail.com
Whenever I heard the words “green tea” the only thing that comes to my mind is the taste that you would probably be getting if you were to lick the bottom of a lawn mower. But regardless of its taste, green tea has been proven to be one of those ingredients that works like magic for your skin, especially if it is problematic skin.
Recently, I tried out the green tea sheet mask by The Face Shop, which is a Korean skin care and beauty company. My skin had been freaking out due to the change in the weather and probably the crap ton of pollution that it was being hit with on an everyday basis, so I was in desperate need of something to calm things down. In this post, I will be sharing with you what my thoughts were on this product and how it performed. If you wish to know how it fared, please keep reading.
Price
This mask is sold for INR 100 at Nykaa.
Packaging
It comes in a plastic sachet inside which the sheet mask is folded in. There are holes cut out in it for your eyes, nose, and mouth, and the mask is made up of a thin fabric like material which is drenched with a serum. The packaging is actually very simple, yet very good. Good quality plastic is used for the outer packet, it has a matte finish to it, and is definitely travel friendly to the extent that you can stack up multiple masks like these in your travel bag.
What it claims to do
The mask sheet drenched in a clear serum with Green Tea soothes skin irritated by environmental stressors, refreshing and revitalising it.
How it performed and my thoughts
When it comes to skin care, I think K beauty has some of my Holy Grail products. Be it overnight masks with snail goop or serums that make pigmentation on your skin go away. However, sheet masks have been that one product which I had always felt to a be a bit too extra for K beauty. I mean think about it, you pay 100 or 150 rupees for a product that you can only use once, and we all know that nothing worthwhile really happens in one go; especially when it comes to skin care. Therefore it felt like a waste.
But recently, due to a whole lot of travelling, hours spent outside in the sun, and bad food choices, my skin was pretty much wailing for help. I was getting breakouts after breakouts and each more magnificent than the one before. So, I decided that I should probably give these Korean sheet masks a go, and see what the fuss is all about and will they truly do something to for my skin’s needs.
Now, I may not be a part of the Green Tea drinking group, but I will not deny that it is one of those ingredients that work really well when it comes to healing your skin or calming down inflammations and such. So I started with this green tea sheet mask by The Face Shop, which retails for 100 rupees, which seemed like an ok price; something I was willing to spend for a one time use to see if the product really worked or not.
The instructions to use the mask are very clear. You need to first wash your face with some water and tap dry, followed by applying the sheet mask over your face. Keep it on for as long as you’d want (minimum 20 minutes is recommended) and then take it off and massage whatever essence is left over on your skin, all over your face and neck and leave it for your skin to soak it up.
Since it is a green tea mask, I was expecting it to smell like green tea as well, but the smell of this product was not like what I expected, but instead was a bit like expensive skin care. Because the sheet is drenched in serum, when you take it out of the pack, it starts dripping, so be quick here. The shape of the mask isn’t perfect either, so when you put it on, adjust it according to your needs; especially around the nose area.
Coming to how it performed, the mask had a cooling effect on the skin when it was on it, and afterwards, there was a visible glow on my skin. My skin felt hydrated and refreshed, and although it did not do anything for my breakouts the next day they looked visibly smaller.
However, it was the majestic glow that this mask gave my face which has me reeling still. For people who have dry skin and/or dull skin, this sheet mask will be really good for you. The green tea will probably make a difference on your breakouts if you wear this more often, but for a one time use, you can definitely look forward to glowing and hydrated skin.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Travel friendly packaging
- Affordable price
- Smells very good
- Makes your skin glow
- Hydrates dry skin
Cons:
- Is a onetime use product so there won’t be any drastic change in the skin
Rating
I will rate this product a 3.5 out of 5, mainly because the only thing it did was give my skin a glowy finish and nothing else really. I was expecting a bit much from it, since it is infused with green tea, mainly in terms of reducing my stressed out skin’s breakouts. But nothing of that sort really happened. But if you are looking for something to pump up your skin before a big event, then you can surely try this sheet mask out.
