9 Skin Care Tips for Winter That Your Grandmother Always Followed

With the winter reaching its peak, it best that we take care of our skin and tresses as they get prone to drying, breakage, itchiness and cracking. Many of us go for spa treatments, salon techniques and other aesthetic options to get rid of the cruelty the winter shows us. Grandma always had her handy nuskhas ready when the winters came around, but not all of us have the privilege of having them around every day! So here are a few great tips to beat the winter and its harshness with easy to follow rules.

Rule 1:

Keep up the cleansing, toning and moisturizing routine

Cleanse your skin with natural ingredients like cream and milk, followed by toning and bleaching properties of lemon and honey and then go for an ointment like, oil based moisturizer to complete the routine. If you have oily skin, go for a lesser gradient of oiliness in your lotion. Using full fat cream with turmeric on your face and hands will give you super soft skin.

Rule 2:

Use SPF

So what if it is not as sunny, your skin is always exposed to the UV rays emitted by the sun. So keep using the SPF powered face and body creams and lotions.

Hydrate Yourself

Drink 8 glasses of water each day. Not only does your skin need it but also your body requires the aqua content to keep itself from drying out.

Rule 4:

Tepid water does not give your skin that sudden boost and then loss of moisture that hot water does. Same goes for humidifiers and air heaters. They tend to cause sudden loss of moisture in your skin leading to flakiness and cracked skin.

Rule 7:

Petroleum Jelly

Use this magical ingredient on your lips and say bye to chapped lips. It may be greasy and oily but it shows its magic on chapped lips, cracked heels and dried elbows. Wear socks and gloves after moisturizing your skin at night to wake up softer than usual!

Rule 8:

Aloe Vera

Best treatment in the winter for skin and hair follicles, it seals the moisture in and keeps you glowing. Apply it on the face and watch those fine lines left by the winter disappear.

Rule 9:

Glycerine and Banana
